Services

Your care with us is comprehensive.

Pregnancy Care

Womb to Room Midwifery is able to provide you with all the care you need in your pregnancy. Whether you call us from the bathroom with your positive pregnancy test, or you call us at 41 weeks and want something different for your experience, we are here for it!

During your pregnancy we offer all lab work that you need, and offer you referrals for ultrasounds as they are needed. We also monitor your well-being and your baby’s well-being during our visits, which are monthly until your third trimester, then every other week until 36/37 weeks, then every week until you have the baby.

  • All lab work is done in office (with rare exception) by your team

  • Ultrasounds are referred to one of our trusted partners

  • Non-stress tests are completed in-office as needed

  • We complete all birth certificate, FMLA, and paid family leave paperwork

During your labor your team gathers at your side in active labor, and we stay until you are stable, at about 2-4 hours postpartum. During that time we are monitoring you and the baby and intervening in your process as little as possible, but as much as needed.

Postpartum we see you at home 24-48 hours after the baby is born. We then see you again around 1-2 weeks, then at 3-4 weeks, then at 6-8 weeks. Postpartum care includes lots of lactation support if you are body feeding your baby, emotional support through the big transitions your body and your relationships are going through, and gobs of listening and holding space for you.

Newborn Care

This may surprise you - but we take care of your baby for the first 2 weeks too! Making sure you can stay home and cocoon for a month (with exception for that one visit around 2 weeks) we help support the best recovery you can have. Included in your newborn care:

  • Vitamin K is offered at 1-3 hours postpartum

  • Erythromycin eye ointment is offered after the birth just before we depart

  • We weigh and measure your baby

  • We monitor your baby’s weight

  • We monitor jaundice

  • Newborn Metabolic Screen

  • Newborn Hearing Screen

  • Critical Congenital Heart Defect Screening

  • We are unable to offer vaccines due to their stability maintenance needs, but we can provide supportive information without judgement.

Homebirth

Often touted as the “gold standard” for birthing, home remains a safe, beautiful, and comfortable place to birth. You purchase a few supplies, and we bring the rest! Be assured, we bring all the safety equipment and medications needed to safeguard your experience. The difference is - we tuck you into bed right after!

Birth Center Birth

A Birth Center is a freestanding facility not affiliated with or attached to a hospital. Think of it as a homebirth in someone else’s really nice home with a really nice tub. I have privileges at Seattle Home Maternity Birth Center in Columbia City, and Center for Birth in Seattle on Eastlake. And of couse, as soon as it opens - Our Place Birth Center in Auburn.

VBAC Care

I believe in your autonomy in how you birth, and delight in putting the power of your experience into your hands. As a trauma informed provider, I hold both the emotional space for processing your cesarean birth as well as the joyous space of your new, different birthing experience.
